The idea for the
Millenium Calendar was conceived
by
Peter
Rasmussen
and introduced as a
project at the 13th European Schools Project Conference in
March 1999 in Tartu, Estonia.
The
European Schools
Project (ESP) is an
Internet based network organisation of teachers, mostly
within secondary education, throughout the European Union
and worldwide. Thousands of students in over 25 countries
have taken part in European Schools Teleprojects.
The Millennium Calendar is
one of many European Schools Projects currently taking
place. Pupils at schools participating in the Millennium
Project contributed pages for this Calendar. Teachers and
National Coordinators provided the framework in which
contributions could be prepared for presentation by
country.
The Millennium Calendar is
dynamically created every time someone visits it. The
Calendar's contents change as it progresses towards the end
of the millennium. It works like an Advent Calendar in that
links to a country's contribution are not opened until the
appropriate date. The controlling program works out what day
it is and then decides which links should be revealed to
visitors.
If you would like to use the
program for the next millenium beginning January 1st, 3000
please feel free to do so. You can get a copy of it by
