Earth Day

On April 22, 2010 Earth Day celebrates its 40th birthday. The first Earth Day had participants from two thousand colleges and universities, approximately ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the United States drawing 20 million Americans out into the sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favour of environmental reform.

By 1990 Earth Day had become a truly international event with over 200,000,000 people in 141 countries raising awareness of environmental issues that stimulated and culminated in the United Nation's Earth Summit in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, in 1992.

Earth Day is now observed in over 170 countries with many environmental groups such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) using the opportunity to make Earth Day into a day of action that focuses attention on environmental issues, endangered species and promotes political change.

The Earth Day Gallery

The gallery here displays designs relating to the theme of Earth Day. The Earth Day motif of a solitary palm tree on a globe with sea, ocean and clouds facing a bright sun represents the vulnerability of the endangered planet that is our home and that of other threatened species at risk from our actions and our inactivity.

The designs created here are available on a range of products and gifts. All are fully customizable for the forthcoming Earth Day and recyclable for all future Earth Days as the dates and messages can easily be changed before production. All are easy to personalize for use by individual gift givers or by groups, clubs and societies to add their own message raising awareness of the environment and the ecosystem, red-listed critical and endangered species and biodiversity, and all issues relating to keeping earth green.
